CALLED MEETING
June 12, 2006
The Presbytery of Mississippi held a called meeting at
Westminster Presbyterian Church, Hattiesburg, Mississippi on Monday, June 12,
2006 at 2:00 p.m. In the absence of the Moderator, the presbytery elected Rev.
Andy Wells to preside over the meeting.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Rev. Jim Truesdell. Rev. Michael
Herrin was elected recording clerk for the meeting.
ROLL
A quorum
was present with the following twelve ministers and twelve elders enrolled for
the meeting.

An excused
absence was granted to all active minister members not present and all
congregations not represented.
An excused
absence was also granted to Morris “Skip” Ehrlich.
The
following ministers were absent without excuse: Barron Banks, Martha Blount,
Theophilus King, and David Ray.
The
moderator stated that the purpose of the meeting was to examine Cory Stott for
ordination to the gospel ministry, to approve the call of Trinity Presbyterian
Church, Meridian to Mr. Stott to serve as pastor, and to appoint a commission
to ordain and install Mr. Stott.
Mr. Stott
preached a sermon on Exodus 20:1-4, 7-21 and Matthew 22:34-40. Rev. Jim White,
moderator of the Committee on Ministry (COM), moved that the sermon portion of
the examination be deemed satisfactory. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Stott then gave some autobiographical
information and read his statement of faith.
Mr. White reported that the COM has examined Mr. White. He then asked Mr. White several questions
about theology, polity, and sacraments.
The Moderator invited questions from the floor. Mr. White then moved on behalf of the COM
that the examination be sustained in all its parts, that Mr. Stott be approved
for ordination and installation as pastor of Trinity Church in Meridian, that
the terms of call be approved, and that the moderator of presbytery be
empowered to appoint a commission to ordain and install Mr. Stott. The motion
was approved unanimously.
